Untamed by Glennon Doyle

I have been really surprised with how much I have related to this book just about 20% of the way into it. Glennon has lived an interesting life to say the least, but her most interesting wisdom are in the moments she searched for ways to pick up the pieces. I can really relate to that.

If you're a dude, and you're turned off by the female forward advertising thinking this may not be "for you" I recommend suspending those doubts and giving the book a try.

Here's one of my favorite passages so far:

What I thought would kill me, didn’t. Every time I said to myself: I can’t take this anymore - I was wrong. The truth was that I could and did take it all - and I kept surviving. Surviving again and again made less afraid of myself, of other people, of life. I learned that I’d never be free from pain but I could be free from the fear of pain and that was enough.

Interestingly enough, I walked away from reading this passage and saw just how my fear of pain stopped so many things that could bring me joy. It's a good one y'all. Link from Glennon's site below, or pick it up from the digital public library as I did.

Dance 4 Me by Nsikak David, Show Dem Camp & The Cavemen.

I love the vibe of this song. It's a taste of afrobeats for some summer in your chilly holiday. In fact, I'm listening to it as I finish this blog post and it's the perfect compliment to the crisp, sunny day.
